Sunday 20 May 2012 Welcome along to our services today at 374 High Street, Motueka. 10am - Good morning everyone. We trust you will enjoy the service and hope you will stay afterwards for a cup of tea or coffee and fellowship. Remember Prayer & Worship from 5 to 7pm here tonight. We would love to see you there. Bless you all today, Pastor Shane Murray. Our theme for this term is 'Love God, love others.' - We have taken this quote from the following scripture: Matthew 22:37-40 37 Jesus replied "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbour as yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." Today the title of my message is "Keeping the first commandment first" speaking from this scripture in the Gospel of Matthew. Be sure to take time to have a catch up with everyone over a cup of coffee or tea after the service and remember that every Sunday at 5pm we now hold our Prayer and Worship service. The format for these services are 5-6pm devotion time, 6-7pm worship and prayer. Everyone is most welcome to attend. Bless you all Pastor Shane A Devotion from 'Spurgeon's Evening by Evening' "The LORD is my portion." -- Psalm 119:57 Look at your possessions, believer, and compare your portion with the circumstances of your friends. Some of them have their portion in the field; they are rich, and their harvests yield them a golden increase; but what are harvests compared with your God, who is the God of harvests? What are bursting granaries compared with Him who feeds you with the bread of heaven? Some have their portion in the city; their wealth is abundant and flows to them in constant streams until they become a very reservoir of gold; but what is gold compared with your God? You could not live on it; your spiritual life could not be sustained by it. Could it grant peace to a troubled conscience? Apply it to a sad heart, and see if it could prevent a single groan or minimize one grief. But you have God, and in Him you have more than gold or riches could ever buy. Some have their portion in something most men love -- applause and fame; but ask yourself, is not your God more to you than that? Do you think that human accolades or thunderous applause could prepare you to face death or encourage you in the prospect of judgement? No! There are sorrows in life that wealth cannot alleviate; and there is the deep need of a dying hour, for which no riches can provide. But when you have God for your portion, you have more than everything else put together. In Him every need is met, whether in life or in death. With God for your portion you are rich indeed, for He will supply your need, comfort your heart, relieve your grief, guide your steps, walk with you in the dark valley, and then take you home to enjoy Him as your portion forever. "I have enough," said Esau; this is the best thing a worldly man can say, but Jacob replied in essence, "I have everything," which is a note too high for carnal minds. -- Charles H. Spurgeon (1834-1892) (C) 2007 by Alistair Begg, Crossway Books, Wheaton, Illinois. At the church tonight from 5pm-7pm. Tasman Bay Christian School Last term, by invitation from Steve Matthews, Ps Shane went and prayed through the classrooms of Tasman Bay Christian School. A blessing was prayed over the class rooms and a covering of protection for the teachers and students. Steve noticed a positive shift in many aspects in his classroom for the first term. So at the beginning of this term Ps Shane along with Ps Lyall Shieb from the Motueka Baptist Church prayed through all the classrooms with all the teachers and students. What a great way to start the term and we look forward to testimonies from the school of the difference that the power of prayer does make. Our God is good, all the time.
